DETAILS OF INCIDENT:

 

Crash occurred when vehicle 1, a 1995 Chevy Astro Van, was traveling north in the 4700 blk of Mo Route B (Paris Rd) and vehicle 2, a 2004 Mack MR8S, City of Columbia Garbage Truck, was traveling south in the 4700 blk of Mo Route B (Paris Rd.).  Driver of vehicle 1 lost control, began to fishtail and crossed the center turn lane into the path of vehicle 2.  Driver of vehicle 2 was not able to avoid vehicle 1 and struck vehicle 1.

 

Driver 1 was extricated from the vehicle by Columbia Fire personnel and transported from the scene by EMS personnel to The University of Missouri Hospital where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel. 

 

Impairment by drugs and/or alcohol by either driver are not believed to be a factor.  However the road conditions due to weather is believed to be a factor.
