GetAbout Columbia, in partnership with Columbia Parks and Recreation Department, is hosting a free guided bicycle tour that will highlight several of Columbia's original spaces, historic homes and settlement landmarks.
The bike ride will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, August 24. Cyclists should meet at the playground in Flat Branch Park.
Trevor Harris, amateur historian and avid cyclist, will lead cyclists on a slow paced, 10-mile ride. Tour highlights will include the Boone County "Poor House," Columbia Cemetery; Quarry Heights Lake and many more. The ride route will include a mix of gravel trails and low-traffic streets. Helmets are required for all participants. Water stops will be provided along the way. Registration is suggested by calling 874-7700.
Funding for GetAbout Columbia is provided by the Federal Highway Administration's Non-Motorized Transportation Program.
