The City of Columbia and Clean Energy, will host a dedication and grand opening event for mid-Missouri's first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station on Tuesday, August 26 at 11:30 am at 1900 Lake Ridgeway Drive.
Scheduled to deliver brief remarks are Mayor Bob McDavid and Peter Grace, Senior Vice President Sales and Finance of Clean Energy. The Columbia Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will perform a ribbon cutting ceremony after the scheduled remarks.
The CNG fueling station will provide CNG to government and private fleets as well as CNG vehicles owned and operated by the general public. Initially, two CNG dispensers will be used by the City of Columbia, and one public dispenser will be available. Depending on demand, another public dispenser can be added.
The city of Columbia has recently taken delivery of several CNG fueled vehicles and will place them in service when the CNG fueling station opens. Several city departments such as Public Works, Water & Light, and Parks & Recreation have taken delivery of or have on order, CNG fueled vehicles. Other vehicle fuel sources are gasoline or diesel, with some electric hybrid vehicles as well.
