Corrected the direction of the closure noted in bold below. We apologize for the error.
Beginning on Monday, August 18 at 7:00 a.m., Vawter School Rd, from the round-about at Scott Blvd to approximately 400 feet EAST of the round-about, will close to all traffic while the contractor reconstructs the roadway. The closure will last no longer than 21 days. During the short term closure of Vawter School Road, Scott Blvd will remain open to traffic.
This project is a part of the Scott Blvd Phase II construction. The contractor will raise the roadbed and pour a concrete driving surface to the transition of the round-about. This phase will improve the roadway and make a much smoother transition into and out of the round-about.
This phase of the round-about could not be completed when the round-about was originally built as we had to maintain access into and out of Boone County Fire Protection District Station 14 so they could continue to provide emergency services.
Motorist and non-motorized transportation users should use caution in the construction area and find alternate routes when applicable.
