PROACTIVE PATROL RESULTS
Since the July 4th weekend, The Columbia Police Department has increased its efforts to combat the recent gun violence. Officers from Patrol, Street Crimes Unit, K9 Unit, SWAT, Investigative, and VNOC have altered their schedules and increased their hours worked to investigate and solve these crimes. The Columbia Police Department was assisted in this effort by the University of Missouri Police Department, The Boone County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway patrol. Many contacts and arrests were made and the following is the Proactive Patrol results:
96 - traffic stops
39 - check subjects
12 - other contacts
These traffic stops and contacts resulted in 16 felony arrests and recovering 5 guns.
The Columbia Police Department will continue with the Proactive Patrols to stop the violence. Police need the community's help to put an end to these senseless acts of violence. Anyone with information about these incidents, or any gang-related activity, is encouraged to contact police or call Crime Stoppers at (573)875-TIPS to remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers is currently offering a $2,000.00 reward for any information leading to an arrest in these cases. Every piece of information is important.
