The Columbia Public Works Department has completed a majority of the post-storm cleanup on streets and sidewalks. It has also finished assisting Columbia Water & Light in clearing trees around electric utilities.
There are many residents who are still recovering and looking for ways to dispose of limbs and tree parts which don't meet curbside pickup criteria. Columbia Public Works Street Division will conduct a special pickup with relaxed requirements on Saturday, July 19.
This special service is for storm related materials. We ask our customers to not use this service to dispose of materials related to normal landscaping activities.
To request a special pickup, residents should call anytime between now and Thursday, July 17, at 5 p.m. To allow time to coordinate the schedule, requests cannot be accepted after that time.
When calling, please follow these instructions:
Call 441-5550
Listen to the message and at the tone leave the following information:
First and last name
Street address
Zip code
Phone number
There is no need to leave more than one request. Public Works will not call to confirm pickup of limb and tree debris unless there is a question.
Limbs and tree parts must be cut into lengths no longer than 5 feet. This ensures the debris will fit into the loader buckets. There are no bundling or weight limitations.
Materials must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 19. If crews can not collect all of the materials on Saturday, July 19, remaining materials will be collected Sunday, July 20.
