Special Collection/Drop Off for Spoiled Food Waste on Saturday, July 12 from 8 am until noon

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

In response to those who have been without power and may have spoiled food, Public Works announces special drop off points for food waste on Saturday, July 12 from 8:00 am to 12 noon. This drop off is for spoiled food waste only please.

Residents who have spoiled food may bring the materials by at no charge for disposal.

Drop off points:

Columbia Boone County Public Health and Human Services Department at 1005 West Worley Street. A Solid Waste vehicle will be on the very far west end of the parking lot near the cell tower. Please take your materials to the truck and a crew member will assist with loading the materials into the truck.

Fairview Elementary School, 909 Fairview Road, south parking lot. A Solid Waste vehicle will be in the south parking lot. Please take your materials to the truck and a crew member will assist with loading the materials into the truck.

We urge people to arrive between 8 am and 12 noon and please do not dump spoiled food into dumpsters or on the parking lot of either facility over the weekend.

Columbia Public Works, Public Health and Human Services, and Columbia Public Schools are providing these special collection points for our customers so that they do not have to have spoiled food sitting around until their next collection date.

Now that we have cleared the streets and assisted Water & Light in clearing trees around downed power lines, our crews can assist in providing this service.

Thanks to the Public Health and Human Services Department and Columbia Public Schools for hosting the drop off points.
