Steinberg Playground at Cosmo Park will be closed to the public starting Monday, May 5 for about two weeks. The closure will allow crews to install several new playground pieces.
Park users are encouraged to visit other park playgrounds during this time, such as Cosmo-Bethel Park, Albert-Oakland Park and Rock Quarry Park.
Steinberg, which is the largest playground in the Parks and Recreation system, is being entirely renovated. The newest area will reopen later in May, after the pieces are installed and pass a safety inspection.
Renovations will continue in other areas of Steinberg through the summer, but it is anticipated that a portion of the playground will remain open to the public during this time.
The renovation of the 17-year-old playground is being primarily funded by the Park Sales Tax, passed by voters in 2010, along with some funding assistance provided by the Disabilities Commission.
