Snow Operations Update - Streets. 4:30 PM 01-02-2014
(COLUMBIA, MO) - Snow - Update 4:30 PM: 14 person crew on until 7:00PM then a 13 person crew. Drivers report about 12 percent of residential streets treated, plowed and passable. About 11 percent of residential streets partially completed.
Crews will concentrate on cleaning up priority routes and monitoring for re freeze overnight and return to residential streets after 7:00 am Friday.
Salt alone ineffective at these temperatures and hence we continue to use a salt cinder mix.
Watching potential accumulating snow forecast for Saturday night followed by bitterly cold temperatures.
Motorist encouraged to watch for re freeze tonight and use caution on roadways.
