Snow - Update: 3 inches of snow on the ground. Snow has stopped, temperatures are in the low teens.
Salt is not effective alone at these temperatures so we have switched to a salt/cinder mix to provide some melting and traction components to the treatment in addition to plowing.
Still on 1st and 2nd priority routes. Snow depth is over two inches - snow priority routes are in effect and all vehicles should be moved from priority routes to avoid citations.
Crews reporting 95% of 1st priority roads plowed and treated, 80% of 2nd priority roads plowed and treated. These routes are defined now as passable.
Roads are snow covered and motorist should allow extra time and patience on their morning commute today. With temperatures not expected to get above 15 today, melting may not occur even on treated roadways.
