Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

(COLUMBIA, MO) -

GetAbout Columbia is celebrating the International Mountain Bike Association's Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day on Saturday, October 5.  The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Capen Park, 1600 Capen Park Dr.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking is an annual celebration to encourage communities around the world to join together and share the joys of single track riding.  This free event is an opportunity for parents to share the joy of off-road cycling with their families.  Kids, ages 7-14, will be introduced to off-road riding skills, bike safety check skills, and rules of the trail.  The event will include a guided trail ride based on age and skill level.

Participants need to bring a bike with fat knobby tires (in good working condition), a helmet, a water bottle and a participating adult.  Space is limited. Registration is available by calling 874-7460 or by contacting Janet Godon at [email protected]create new email.   T-shirts will be available to the first 50 people to register.

Please call Columbia Parks and Recreation at 874-7460 for additional information or visit gocolumbiamo.com/ParksandRec.  Funding for GetAbout Columbia is provided by the Federal Highway Administration's Non-Motorized Transportation Program.
