The City of Columbia Public Works Department announced today that beginning Wednesday, May 22 at 7:00 am, weather permitting, APAC will begin milling work on S. West Blvd. between Rollins Road and Sunset Lane. The contract is for milling of the driving surface only at this time. While the surface is milled off, engineers will examine the roadbed for deficiencies. If deficiencies are located, they will be repaired before the driving surface is reapplied. The overlay will then occur later this summer. The cost of the milling operations is aproximatly $20,000.
This work will result in a rolling road closure on S. West Blvd. between Sunset Lane and Rollins Road. The work should be completed and the road reopened Thursday, May 23 at 5:00p.m.
Motorists and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution when in the construction area and use an alternate route whenever possible.
