East Nifong Boulevard between Rock Quarry Road and Bearfield Road will be closed April 25, to replace a failing storm water drainage culvert. Two bus routes will reroute to avoid the closure, the 208 Gold East and the 105 Purple Commuter. The reroutes will be in effect during all service hours Thursday, April 25. Lane restrictions through April 29 could cause delays, but routes will return to normal on Friday, April 26.
The 208 Gold East route to The Point will reroute as follows:
When departing the Student Center, the bus will travel west on Rollins Rd to Providence Road, south on Providence Rd to Nifong Blvd., east on Nifong Blvd to the Green Meadow Rd. and Nifong Connector, south on the Nifong Connector, east on Nifong, and north on Rock Quarry Rd to meet its regular route.
The 105 Purple Commuter will reroute as follows:
The route will not turn onto Rock Quarry Rd from Grindstone Pkwy, but continue east on Grindstone Pkwy, southeast on Ponderosa, west on Nifong Blvd, and north on Bearfield Rd. After Departing CMSE the bus will continue north on Bearfield crossing Nifong Blvd, west on Grindstone Pkwy, south on Rock Quarry Rd and west on Nifong Blvd to meet its regular route.
Bus stops within the detoured areas will not be in service during this time. Passengers should catch the desired bus at the nearest active bus stop.
